Walking is extremely useful in calming anxiety and preventing it, and also for eliminating discouragement and even sadness.
It is very helpful in eliminating feelings of depression.
Start
small, and build up your walking time gradually to avoid soreness and
to allow your body to become accustomed to walking. If you walk an hour
a day, five days a week, you will find great improvement in your mood
and feeling of well being.
Walking outdoors is preferable to
walking indoors, and on a track is better than a treadmill. If you use
a treadmill, be sure to vary the speed during each session, and do not
look at the same point all the time. Allow your body to move in a more
natural way, at differing speeds and to look at varying points in your
field of vision.
And always, be safety conscious, and dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes.
